Opened Meeting 4:16 p.m. 

Board members reports: 

SECRETARY – JODY – Reading of the minutes from 5/16/24 Motion accepted by Deb Guylas 2nd Robert Bartha 

TREASURER: Collean— Checking: $5,962.91 Savings: $20,014.23 Financial Compilation – proof of documentation Per Capita – increase starting 1/1/25 Dues increase higher level $.11 nd lower level $.10 Current company does our dues but cannot do 990. Looking into resources to do our 990 EZ (accountant) 990 EZ is due in November Treasurers report accepted by Pat Taddei and 2nd by Robert Bartha 

VICE PRESIDENT: Gail— Gail made new hires a packet w/info they need to know. 3 paras to be new reps, Laura Everett, Shelly Babcock, and Samantha Testa Gail brought in raffles for paras that were present at meeting Ted discussed info that is in the welcome folders, and 15 new paras Motion to accept Heather Forlenzo and 2nd by Robert Bartha

 PRESIDENT: Teddy – Ted thanked Gail for going above and beyond re: the raffles and welcome folders. Ted looked into the HSA Subsidy, we will be receiving it again, he will find out how much and when. Amendment to increase officers stipend 8 – 12% for President and Treasurer 5 – 7% for VP and Secretary Motion to increase passed Discussed Planning and revision committee. Will meet from 12-2 in January and April Ted and Dawn Morrissey to join the committee Discussed the PD days and our 1st PD day problems w/logging in, most schools could not log in. Asked if anyone had ideas for a PD to email them to him. 

Sunshine – Deb G… All is good Building Reps ESMS Heather stated a para was asked to do PMT without a stipend bc she is not in the program, para is not doing PMT at this time. Harborside – Robert asked if our 6.25 was added to our check, (YES it was) New building sub put in program rooms without PMT Training JFK – no rep Meadowside – para working with student who wears diapers and was asked to put cream on diaper rash.

PRESIDENT: Teddy –

Discussed having another fundraiser, starting in January at our next meeting. We collected socks last year. 

will vote @ next meeting on who ,what and where to fundraise for.

Animal shelter? suggested byDeb Guylas and Ellen Connors 

Teddy invited Diane Daniels to next meeting to discuss and answer questions on thrift plans and retirement program.

Issues at other schools. (JL) Paras were called into office and changed assignments and schedules.

Said we should start discussing contract next year,start committees as issues arise, so when its time for negotiations we have ample time to discuss and dig into contract and work together

Discussed when seniority comes into play(you're guaranteed a job not placement)

Discussed the shortage of paras and the need for more

suggested a list of questions for next contract

try to come up with a plan w/solid backing

visit a new committee at the next meeting.

Building Reps

ESMS - Heather Forlenzo - ½ day PD’s

Harborside - Robert - Ann and Shelly discussed issues w/agressive students (they are getting hit and bit) RBT and PMT bc of the need the stipend should be more

Meadowside - Laura E  said issues w/kids hitting etc SP Ed teacher quit, there is now a long term sub in place

Orange Ave - Shelly said a para doesnt follow her schedule clocks in early and leaves early. if she doesn't like student placement she doesnt show up

Opened Meeting 4:15 p.m.
Ted welcomed Diane Daniels Benefits director to speak about 403-B plan, Thrift and
Retirement. Thrift matches up to 6% dollar for dollar.
3 year vested period otherwise you take your portion, board takes theirs. 3 years from when
you start the plan. Account 403-B open before you retire to receive your money from sick
time with no taxes.
Pre-tax
Specific dates to sign up for 403-B next 3/14, form by 3/3
Approved providers on list to see the fee.

VICE PRESIDENT: Gail— 144 Paras as of today. Need reps for Calf Pen, JFK, Orchard
Hills and Pumpkin Delight. Gail thanked everyone for submitting Shoutouts!!
Discussed people are still having trouble with 321 Insight
Working on getting everyone’s emails.
Motion to accept by Deb G and 2 nd Heather F
PRESIDENT: Teddy – Started by stating he liked having more paras at this
meeting. Discussed the vague part of the contract and wants to be more prepared for
next negotiation.

Ellen C asked about date for retirement and sick days. Teddy will check priority of date
of hire (Sept 1, 2014) Becky said paras should have pension long before that date. Ellen
suggested to change the 9/1/14 date during next negotiation.
The website issue was brought to Ted’s attention its fixed and minutes are now up and
all set.
Ted reserved Citrus for the End of the Year Celebration. $15.00 per person includes food
and a drink ticket. We will honor retirees.
Ellen asked if the “day” can change for end of the year celebration
Ted asked paras in attendance to ask around their building so we know who will be
retiring so they can be honored. (Lisa Giorgio retired)
Discussed a fundraiser for Animal shelter and collecting money for the end of the year
celebration
People still having issues with PL sites.
BLDG REPS
Meadowside – not enough paras and they are not PMT’d
ESMS – Heather is going out on medical leave for 6 weeks
Harborside – Robert said student has IEP and behavior issues went under the rope in
café and yelled at café worker SRO stepped in and dealt with it. Para was reprimanded
without a rep. Ted told Robert to have that para contact him.
WSMS – Ellen re: CC’s a para put in for 11.5 and was only paid for 11
